State Representative Calvey Going to Iraq-- Democrat Calls for His Death

Kevin Calvey, one of Oklahoma's finest State Representatives, has volunteered to served in Iraq. He joined the military right after the September 11th attacks.

He is a brave man and, obviously, one who sticks to his principles. We wish him a safe mission and safe return.

That, however, cannot be said for the loser at DemoOkie who gleefully anticipated Calvey's death by I.E.D. Let's all hope that poster has the opportunity to come face to face with a soldier some day so that he can fully realize the idiocy of his words. If I knew who he was, I'd spit on him.

Fortunately, a few of his colleagues saw it fit to condemn him.

Hypocrites

Over at DemoOkie, those losers are pissing and moaning about some of their signs being defaced. Despicable to be sure. No one likes their property being ruined and no one likes to see their money go to waste over some pranksters.

But just a few weeks ago when Democrats were defacing Representative Thad Balkman's (R-Norman) signs by writing "American Taliban" and "Bad Thad," they accused Balkman of "whining" and told him to just suck it up, these things happen. After all, it was probably just some troublesome teenagers, they said.

Now the tables are turned and they're outraged! "De Rats. That's very mature of them," says Nicole at DemoOkie. Yeah, just like writing "American Taliban," except whoever defaced the Democrats' sign actually had a point.

"That is dispicable [sic], and illegal!!" wrote Jeri, one of DemoOkie's 5 certified resident nutcases. But it isn't despicable or illegal when they do it to a Republican sign. So, forgive me if all I can say is "Boo hoo hoo."

But, hey, must just be some dumb teenagers, right?

Who Says You Can't Trust Liberals With National Security?

The New York Times pulls a John Kerry on the SWIFT program-- a program that let us track terrorists' finances and gather valuable intelligence on their operations....that is, until The Times published a story about it.

My July 2 column strongly supported The Times’s decision to publish its June 23 article on a once-secret banking-data surveillance program. After pondering for several months, I have decided I was off base. There were reasons to publish the controversial article, but they were slightly outweighed by two factors to which I gave too little emphasis. While it’s a close call now, as it was then, I don’t think the article should have been published.

Those two factors are really what bring me to this corrective commentary: the apparent legality of the program in the United States, and the absence of any evidence that anyone’s private data had actually been misused. I had mentioned both as being part of “the most substantial argument against running the story,” but that reference was relegated to the bottom of my column. . . .

I haven’t found any evidence in the intervening months that the surveillance program was illegal under United States laws. Although data-protection authorities in Europe have complained that the formerly secret program violated their rules on privacy, there have been no Times reports of legal action being taken. Data-protection rules are often stricter in Europe than in America, and have been a frequent source of friction.

Also, there still haven’t been any abuses of private data linked to the program.

Thanks, NYT!

Only 10% of Oklahomans Call Themselves Liberals

According to the latest TVPoll, only 10% of Oklahomans identify as "liberal." The pool of respondents included 51% Democrats and 44% Republicans.

Furthermore, only 7% believe surplus revenues should be used to increase spending on government programs, 90% believe it is important to ensure at least 65% of education funding reaches the classroom, and 89% believe illegal immigrants shouldn't be allowed in-state tuition. All of this is rebuke to how the Democrats stand on the issues.

Free Speech Calvin

Fellow Dems: There is actually a debate going on at DemoOkie about whether or not they should censor criticism of their political candidates.

Our Democratic Party's love for free speech and the exchange of ideas never ceases to amaze me!

UPDATE: I made a mistake by calling it a debate. In fact, there is no intelligible argument happening. There almost seems to be consensus that it's okay to censor criticism of Democratic candidates.

Oklahoma Secrets

Who said we Democrats were unethical, unprofessional and unqualified to run state government?

They did: http://www.oklahomasecrets.com/

And they're correct.

Let's Be Honest

I've decided I've had enough of Republicans stifling our free speech, so I'm just going to lay it out right here, right now!

Republicans:
Hate Poor People By: lowering taxes, providing school choice, welfare to work reforms, child tax credits, elimination of the marriage penalty, etc.

Democrats: Love Poor People By: raising taxes, continuing abysmal standards of public education, substandard socialized healthcare, and oppressive government regulation on labor, promoting reliance on government through the welfare state, affirmative action, etc.

If you can think of any other methods our party helps poor people by making them dependent on government and the welfare state, please let me know!

P.S. Republicans are evil. Bush is a Nazi!

Democrat Corruption

It appears the Oklahoma Democrats continue to have their own corruption problems. We won't even mention (except for this one sentence) William Jefferson, the Congressman from Louisiana who was caught with $90,000 in his freezer, and all the corruption in Washington DC within both parties.

But since Oklahoma Democrats do have such a long history of corruption (see previous posts), we thought we'd point out the next notch in their corruption sword: Read this story. TMRO says it all.

Originality Never Escaped Us

Since we're Democrats, we are extremely creative in mind and body. As evidence, just look at the terminology we've been able to invent over the past 130 years to refer to our Republican enemies:

1)Repugs
2)Repukes
3)Goobers

Oh, the wit!

Sometimes, when I'm lonely, thinking about the dark days of the Bush Administration and longing for higher taxes and more tolerance towards Islamic Jihadists, I cheer myself up by reminding my children that we're the party of imagination. Do you seriously think Republicans would have been able to come up with "REPUKE"? Hell no! They're too busy finding ways to reduce our taxes.

So, the lesson is don't ever-- EVER!-- allow anyone to tell you Democrats are dim-witted, unimaginative, teenager-like fools! All you need to disprove that notion is pull out one word: "Repug."

Democrats and Security

If you haven't seen David Zucker's satirical short ad on our party's security record, please view it. And send it to all of your Democrat friends. This is a must see!

Republican Corruption (Updated)

Just as we thought the scandals and clouds of impropriety were coming to an end, here we have another. No, I'm talking about Mark Foley, I'm talking about the evil Republican State Auditor Jeff McMahan. Apparently, he's been implicated in some questionable fundraising tactics and ethics reports. In a multi-post series, The McCarville Report Online has the details.

Wait, what? McMahan is a Democrat? Nevermind. There's nothing to see here.

All Oklahoma Democrats are squeaky clean. Just ask all those we hold in high esteem like Gene Stipe (Perjury, Conspiracy), Wallace Collins (libel), former State Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher (Perjury, Embezzlement), and David Walters (8 Felony Indictments).

UPDATE: There's more! Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) looks to be in a bit of trouble. http://instapundit.com/archives/033199.php

We Can Do It!

The elections are less than a month away and we're only down by about 30 points in the Fifth Congressional District Race (Fallin vs. Hunter). This is not the time to give up!

View it this way: if we can simply gain 3 percent support for Dr. Hunter every week until Election Day, we'll have only lost by about 10 points. That's THREE TIMES BETTER than what we're doing now!

Donate today to Dr. Hunter today. (We need good food at the concession party.)

Welcome Democrats of Oklahoma!

Welcome to Oklahoma Democrats! Here we will try to provide you with the latest updates and news regarding our candidates for office. Further, we hope to provide you with a new source of information regarding Democrat politics.

As most of you know, we are currently facing an awful administration that has steadfastly opposed terrorists' rights, kept taxes low, protected us from further terrorist attack, further restricted the rights of people to abort their unborn baby (Oops, I mean "fetus"), and enhanced the economy beyond what we imagined was possible just 5 and 1/2 years ago during a recession that started while Clinton was in office. For us Democrats, this is an outrage!

If you think the situation is bad on the national level, things are even worse here in Oklahoma. Ever since Republicans took control of the State House for the first time in decades, the roads and bridges we neglected during our stranglehold on Oklahoma government are being repaired and have a secure source of funding, teacher pay is rising quickly, taxes are being lowered, the economy is booming, and unborn children now have more protections than ever before! Absurd, if you ask us!

And now we are in danger of losing the State Senate for the first time in history. Given the Republican record of lowering our taxes and promoting Oklahoma values, we can't let this stand. Just imagine if Republicans controlled the legislature with DINO Brad Henry in the Governor's Mansion. It would be chaos.

My heart almost stops at the thought. Almost.
